Cassandra Connell is an award-winning photographer with a fresh eye for the simple, beautiful things. Coming from a family with a keen eye for photography, she began her interest in photography as a young child. She solidified her passion for photography on the journalism staff at her high school. During this time she recieved many awards for her photography including first place awards from the Colorado High School Press Association in the categories of "Feature", "Illustration", "Sports", and "Theme Development Through Photography". She also received a national award in the category of "Academic Photo" from the Columbia Scholastic Press Association of Columbia University. She has had her photographs featured in the local and surrounding area newspapers, including the Pueblo Chieftain. This beginning has had a great impact on the quiet and honest way that she portrays her subjects. Cassandra participated in the Professional Photography program at Colorado Mountain College. She also was an assistant photographer to a successful studio in her local area for four years. She is currently studying with the New York Institute of Photography. Cassandra also has the honor of being a partner photographer with the award winning Val Westover Photography.
